If you purchase Employers Liability Insurance you will be issued with a certificate which must be made available to all employees and kept safe should you need to make a claim even many years after the alleged cause of the injury or illness.
Employers Liability is most commonly purchased alongside Public Liability insurance and similarly requires good risk management and health & safety in your organisation in order to minimise the likelihood of a claim.
Employers Liability insurance is not designed to cover you should an employee make accusations of breaches of employment regulations, such as unfair dismissal or bullying. For this kind of protection you would be better served by Directors and Officers Insurance or Legal Expenses Insurance.
Employers Liability Insurance is reliant on a claimant proving negligence therefore it will not pay employees the automatic benefit they would receive from Personal Accident Insurance should they be unable to work following an injury.
